THE EARLY DAYS

Established by the Gibbons family in 1966 when, having made their name in the building trade, the brothers decided to make use of their vast knowledge and experience of the industry, to open a small timber merchants in Mayfield Street, Blackburn.

However, due to constant growth in the early years, the premises were soon deemed to be too small and so uprooted and moved into their current location in Bennington Street in the early ’70s.

Today, it is from these premises that the company continues to prosper, yet still retains its links with members of the Gibbons family, who remain actively involved in the daily running of the company.

AND THE PRESENT

We pride ourselves on being an independent family run business that supplies wood based sheet materials to both trade and public alike. We offer our customers what we consider to be the most comprehensive range of plywood, OSB, chipboard, MDF and other sheet materials in the north-west.

We offer a free delivery service within approximately 60 miles radius of Blackburn that can virtually guarantee a next day delivery. For those that prefer to collect for themselves, we offer undercover facilities in possibly the only drive-through timber warehouse in the north-west.

We remain conscious that even though we offer unrivalled service and facilities for our customers, we still have to remain competitive when it comes to price. Therefore, because of our ability to buy stock in great volume, constant monitoring of prices and rotation of materials, our customers can be assured that they are buying the products they require at the right price.

Finally, we are a firm believer that a company is only as good as the staff it employs. Our customers can be guaranteed a friendly service, whether they are collecting a single sheet from the warehouse, or ordering multiple packs over the phone. Our staff have years of experience in the timber trade and are only too grateful to pass on their expert knowledge at any time.
